“It was definitely a case of ’Poker Cares’ at the NPL UK Open Charity Party held at the Loose Cannon Club on 16th August 2007. The party hosted by local celebrity Lisa loud, gave some of the NPL UK Open players and spectators a break from the poker ahead of the final table event the following day. A champagne and jazz band reception was followed by a silent auction which included fabulous prizes donated by fifteen generous sponsors including RBC Capital Markets, Destination Marrakech, Guidetti Fine Foods, AEG Live and celebrity fashion designer Pauline Burrows who were all in attendance. It was in fact Pauline’s celebrity designer shirt fitting that interested the poker players with Matt Dale, Sonny Osman and Mel Judah all bidding for the lot.
It will be Matt Dale who will be looking tip-top when we next see him at the table. One of the most popular auction lots of the evening was the fantastic Five-Star trip to Marrakech which included a stay at the Riad Farnatchi, recognized as ‘the’ place to stay in the magical Moroccan City. Incredibly, it was Tony Poulengeris aka ‘The Enigma’ who managed to bag himself this amazing holiday whilst simultaneously winning the NPL UK Open Event no. 4 in the adjacent room! That’s some going.”
