Event Recap: Charity poker event at Marist had no losers (Poughkeepsie, NY)

“The event raised $270 for the Hope For A Cure foundation for Parkinson’s Disease research (www.hopeforacure.org).

“Everyone had a good time, and we became a little more aware of the Hope for A Cure foundation and what they do,” said Marist senior Todd Bivona, one of the event’s organizers.

Marist junior Matt DePace, who founded Hope For A Cure at age 15, said even though student Timothy McQuade finished with all the chips, everyone who played – even if they only bluffed to take down a single $5 pot – helped make the foundation a winner this night.

“It really means a lot that fellow students are out there raising the biggest amount of money that they can,” DePace said. “It’s nice people contribute whenever they can…”
